2013 Grand Prix Race #3
Russellville, AR - February 9, 2013 - Male Masters 9:00 AM, Female Masters 9:30 AM, Female ages 39 & Under 10:00 AM, Males ages 39 & Under 10:30 AM
Race HistoryThe Valentine's Day 5K dates back to the 1980's when it was known as the "Serendipity Run". 1994 marked the race's first inclusion in the Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix Series.
Course DescriptionThe race starts on a paved trail within the Bona Dea Wildlife Sanctuary. Runners will stay on these trails throughout the race. The course forms a large loop before gradually making its way out of the forest and back to the Bona Dea Trailhead area for the finish line. With no roads to cross, there is little outside distraction for the runners. It is a flat course which oftens yields PR times due to the typically cool weather. Sweetheart CompetitionA special feature of the Valentine's Day 5K is the chance to team up with a sweetheart for additional prizes! Runners have the option of entering with their spouse in the Married Sweethearts Division, or teaming up with a "friend" in the Unmarried Sweethearts Division. The finishing times for the two Sweethearts will be added together to compete against other couples' composite times. The Sweetheart competition is in additional to the male/female individual races and does not affect an individual's time, placing, or award in the overall race.
