Well, I'll go ahead and say it then!
Is it wise to segregate the Valentine's Day 5K? I mean, of all races, the one where a couple might want to run together? If the race is too popular to have everyone out on Bona Dea at the same time, then I understand. It's an interesting idea, but my question is just something to think about :)

About segregating the women and men on Valentine's Day . . . nothing like a healthy little distance to kindle some romance.
My thought: men who meet their women at the finish line with flowers or chocolate are probably going to win the VDay 5K even if they finish last!
RVR, a chocolate & flower concession sounds like a natural fund-raiser!

Couples got all year to run together....how about alone time....lol Seriously would just like to see male 5k and female 5k....and the cogestion is eased with this...also the times ....In my better days I never ran in nicer weather.....it was always 25 -35 degrees and I felt it hindered my performance being an early fast 5k....so with the later time ....I'm hoping for some 50+ degrees and we might get a 15 min or sub 15 min 5k....and LT has the fast 5k there so the women might be faster again this year.
The hour run on sunday....in the past most of my workers either highschool or college often had an indoor track meet on saturday....so thats why we started it off on a sunday.....and its possible we might have a meet on the saturday (22nd).
Jesse......any race can changed it up and have a couples run....Wichita has a rainbow couples classic in July/August so that can be done with any race during the year....it just changes up the age divisions...

That's just one of the bad things about living in a corner of the state. It makes it an all-day affair. I can understand where Tom is coming from. I haven't ran the VD 5K in several years, but I remember how crowded it was at the start. Although it seems some ppl used to leave there to go to a track meet at the U of A right after it.cknott wrote:1-hr Track Run: I, like Kim, really wish this was on a Sat. morning.
Val. Day 5K: I don't mind the spltting of the field into men and women in order to ease congestion, but I think it should still be at 9 and ? as in the past.
I can also see where he is coming from about his workers at the Hour Track Run,,,just makes for a long day,,,,plus this year and last year it's the same day as the NFC and AFC Championship games still up in the air about it,,but doubt I'll be at either one
Somewhere , someone is training when you are not. When you race against them, they will beat you!

Huh? We're a little confused, but that's nothing new! The application shows women's race 11:30 AM and men's 12:30 PM. Is that correct?
Thanks!
