What do common sense and legislation have to do with each other ?

Plus, if more common sense were used people wouldn't run in 40 degrees and the pouring rain on a Sunday afternoon.

My understanding now is that 37 states require helmits for motor bikes. We will likely lose federal money if the law isn't changed. It is costing us more as a result of the head injuries that the state ultimatel pays for. If you are killed it is a lot less expensive than if you are permanently brain injured. We pay that bill, which can last a long time. Not sure how we got off on this tangent. The problem is when the legislature convenes, we are all in trouble. :doh!:

LOL Stallion....if I ever say that to you it's because I plan on running FASTER than you and I know you won't be around to talk to me anyway! :ohyeah:

I do have to say that I was wear full headphones yesterday at Bona Dea Trails in Russellville (Valentine's 5k course) and a male runner came up on me from the left as it was getting dark and I was totally shocked. I pulled out an earbud and apologized for acting so startled and he said he had called out to me in advance so that I wouldn't be freaked out by him.

Right then, I decided to become a one ear bud women. The only problem is that I have the Nike head phone set which goes over your head. I can push one of the ear buds back but to the police it might appear that I'm still wearing one. How might I protect myself from a future ticket with these headphone?

Thanks to one RunningReporter...

"A state senator says he's dropping his proposal to prohibit pedestrians from listening to music on headphones in both ears while on the street or sidewalk.

Democratic Sen. Jimmy Jeffress of Crossett told The Associated
Press on Tuesday that he decided to withdraw his measure aimed at
cracking down on distracted pedestrians.

Jeffress said he understood his proposal didn't have a chance of
passing but felt he was successful in drawing more attention to the
issue.

Jeffress said he received many e-mails opposing his bill.

The measure would have allowed Arkansas pedestrians to listen to
music in only one ear. A New York lawmaker has proposed legislation
that would ban pedestrians from using electronic devices while in a
crosswalk in cities with a population of 1 million or more."

The bill may have been dropped for now but remember the legislature is still in session for some time and all sorts of nice things tend to happen right toward the end of the session. Lots of bills introduced & passed in the last few days. Some intentionally that way and others not. Summary: BE AWARE
