Post by dhmac »

I have signed up for this year's race. Now I need help with plans. For those of you who have gone any recommendations as to where to stay would be appreciated. Also, anyone else going?

Thanks, I started looking last night but was having trouble staying on-line due to the weather. I did find a Best Western that was relatively close and they only wanted $378 per night.

I saved my confirmation e-mail from 2007. This was the name of the motel then. I think I paid 175 or so. It wasn't the Hilton, but it wasn't the Motel 6 either. I could walk to the start and back from the finish. The EL stop was not far away either. I would say when u get there buy a 3 day pass for the EL. You can take the trains almost anywhere in the city. I even got on one that Sat. and rode up to Comiskey park,,and to Wrigley Field Sunday after the marathon..as well as Hooters that Saturday for lunch!! I can get you directions to this motel from the airport as well if u want them. I saved that e-mal as well for future reference.

the Congress Plaza hotel is directly across the street from Grant Park. I stayed there last fall while in Chicago on business and thought it was similar to the older hotels in Hot Springs: kind of in need of some upgrades, but a clean and comfortable place to stay at a good price. the staff was very friendly and helpful.

when I ran Chicago in 2009, we stayed at the Four Points Sheraton on N Rush Street (just off Michigan). I got up and got a cab to the start corral and had no problems.

I would stay at either of these places again.
