Our Maniac Quest (an update for our friends)

Early this year, under a different post, I listed these as my goals for 2011:

Marathon Maniacs 5 stars by April 10 (3 marathons in 3 states in 10 days); 6 stars by December 3 (16 marathons in 16 states in 365 days); 7 stars by February 19, 2012 (20 marathons in 20 states in 365 days); and to reach 30 states in the 50-State Club (11 more states, including Alaska!).

Jonathan and I have just come back from Iowa's Marathon to Marathon. Since it is the middle of the year, I thought I'd post an update for our running friends who've asked about our craziness.

Jonathan began the year with 5 stars and earned his sixth one (16 marathons in 16 different states in 365 days) on his 30th birthday (5-29-11) at the Memorial Day Marathon in Lenox, MA. I picked up #5 on 4-30-11 at the Kentucky Derby Marathon in Louisville (delayed due to the birth of my grandson!). Yesterday, at Marathon IA, completing the Marathon to Marathon, I earned my 6th star (about 6 months ahead of schedule), catching up to Jonathan.

I've run 11 marathons so far since late February and Jonathan has completed 13 (or so?). We both now have 26 states in the 50 States Club.

And, yes, we have driven to all of the races so far. Our next one on the schedule is in Alaska, and we will fly to it (though we did look at the map a couple of times). We even have been known to get to a race a few hours early and nap in the car at the start line while waiting.

That's awesome! I wish you the best on your quest! You two are definitely maniacs, but at least it's the good kind. LOL!
