Gamification improves adherence, even performance
I'm working on a cover story in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on "gamification." This is the term applied to the adoption of gaming characteristics — points, reaching levels, having an avatar, computerized competitors — to solitary recreation, even self-improvements and chores. Good examples include Nike+ (nikeplusactive.nike.com) or the Virtual Racer feature on Garmin sports watches (http://sites.garmin.com/forerunner910xt ... n#features). Do any of you do this? Know someone who does? Has it improved your training?
