LR MARATHON PACERS

Post by Guy »

Hey Runners ..... The Little Rock Marathon Pace Team is looking for a few new contacts to serve as possible substitutes for the upcoming marathon on Sunday, March 3rd ..... and in the process, we're also "reachin' out" to make a few new contacts for 2014, 2015, etc. The Pacer and Pace Team experience is very cool, especially for runners who get the bug to take a racing break and help other runners reach their goals. Since the marathon sold out a few weeks ago, ya wouldn't believe the crazy pacer posers who are trying anything to gain entry! We're needing folks with at least 5 marathon finishes. And we need to know your PR. Like I said ..... all we're trying to do is make new contacts and build up the pool of substitutes. And we do use subs! If you're interested, drop me a line.

If there is anyone on the fence about this, let me tell you that being a pacer is an amazing experience. Of course it's nice to get a free entry and the extras and goodies. Also, pacers need to work the pacer booth at the race Expo but that's just a few hours. Neither of those things matter; what matters is being a motivation for a first timer or for someone with a specific time goal. There are so many people that come up to the pacer booth looking for support and reassurance. Throughout the race you'll encounter many runners who are happy to have someone to talk to even if it's for just a while.

It feels so good to help out other runners. Along with being State Rep I pace the LR Marathon as a way to give back to the running community.
