Razorback football fans will appreciate this story. The Grand Prix awards on Saturday were supposed to be on the 2nd Floor of the Press Box at War Memorial but they moved us to the 1st Floor. That didn't really matter to us; the floors are just about the same; the 2nd Floor has fewer seats and more flat area.
Friday afternoon before our awards ceremony, Arkansas Razorback head coach Bielema called War Memorial Stadium with a special request. In a last ditch effort to change the mind of top recruit Altee Tenpenny of North Little Rock from Alabama to Arkansas, they wanted to pull out all the stops. If you aren't familiar, Tenpenny is regarded as the #1 recruit in the state and one of the top running backs in the country by many analysts. Several of the assistant coaches took him and his Mom to War Memorial while we were having our awards ceremony. They had the Razorback painted on the field just for him and they did everything they could to woo him award from Alabama. When they showed on a big map how much closer Fayetteville was to NLR than Tuscaloosa, the Razorback coaches thought they had convinced Momma. It wasn't until Wednesday that they knew it wasn't enough and that Tenpenny formally committed to Alabama.
I thought you all would like to hear the real reason that we had to change floors and why the Razorback was painted on the field.
