The race is getting close and I ran the trail at lunch today. It is looking great....the State Park employees have blown all of the leaves off of the trail.
That resulted in one my better training runs on the trail this year. Looking forward to introducing this trail to a lot of new people. We have some cool usable overall and masters overall awards ....also we are working on having some soup and chili available for after the race.

You burdened the State Parks to blow the leaves off the trail? And us with the perfect Dianamic Duo for the job! Dsmack and Sidewinder could have had the job done in half the time it took taxpayer dollars!(as WINDY as they are!!!)

Ditto! Awesome race and post-race! Not to mention my kids LOVED the hayride! Hope to get to run it next year!
Oh ya, AWESOME job Carter! You made your move exactly where you said you were gonna, and it worked like a charm! Awesome effort!

Always bet on the home town boy who knows the course!!
It was a great race even if I am so sore I can barely move today.
Kudos to Michael Witt and the Dardanelle Rotary for a great race. The chili and soup after the race were great. Training logs for overall and masters winners was certainly something different and useful.
For all those who passed on this race you need to reconsider next year.

Thanks guys! My
off to all of those who helped (and Billy also)
I was very pleased of the turnout for the first year and I am already excited about next year. Already know what awards I will give for the age group awards and it will be so sweet. The training logs will stay for the overall awards and will feature a different picture of the Mountain every year. I have watched how races are done all over our great State and I am fortunate to run with the Race Director of the year.
Really it wouldn't have went so smooth if it wasn't for Tom Aspel, Billy Mills, Bill Ward, Danny Bounds, David McCormick, and John Hunnicutt. (I hope I remembered everyone).
There was a runner there that is from Little Rock and I have ask him if he has a join a club yet. If he hasn't I will send him to you Road Runners. He just started running in June and was very nice.
Well he just mssgd me back and said...these are his words. "yes I have joined up with the Evil Empire and will be racing in the RRCA next year"

Look Michael, the race went well, but if you are going to recruit for the Dark Side I may have to reconsider.

Michael, that had to be Nicholas....or as he goes by on the message board as AbsoluteZero! He's a nice guy who is just starting to run. I'm just glad that he recognizes WHO he has signed up with in the RRCA....LOL
We'd love to have him if he ever chooses to leave the EE! LOL

Mt Nebo Bench Trail Race

It is time for the 2nd go around for the Mt Nebo Bench Trail Race on December 17th! For those not familiar with the trail it is a good trail for 1st time trail runners but difficult enough to work out the best of you.
We had a great time at last years race and plan to have a better time this year. We have the big pavillion reserved on top of the mountain for the awards ceremony. Don't forget we will have chili and potato soup to eat after the race is finished. The Bench Trail is a wide trail and is 1st time trail racer friendly. 1st mile has a slight incline, 2nd mile is net downhill, 3rd mile is up and down with one of those hills at the end of mile 3 that you think will never end (but it's not too steep). 4th mile is a fast finishing mile.
You can sign up online or print an entry form at
http://www.macsrts.com or send me a message and I will het you a form.

Word of warning - don't get in front of Clydesdale on the steep portion of the "net downhill" on mile 2. It could be ugly with that much mass running over you at the speed that will be gained going downhill.
