Next Year the plan is hopefully no snow......But will put into effect....split the race to 4races...
1.00pm>>> Masters Men and above
1.30pm>>> Open Women (thats every female under 40)
2.00pm>>> Open Men (thats every male under 40)
2.30pm>>> Masters Female and above.
And the date should be Feb 11th 2012.

This is a great idea and it will create an immediate urgency to pass the person ahead of you.

Hopefully you will have good weather for a change,,but even though I probably won't be there :doh!: That's a long time to be up there,,and u better watch out,,Leah could run a 15 minute 5K and beat some 46 minute 5K masters runners :) But it would make for less congestion the trail

If Masters runners are fast enough, can they run in the open heat? Glen Mays is a Masters runner now and faster than most of us under 40. If he shows up next year, can he race in the overall heat? Same with Bresette, etc. (11 out of the top 20 overall in the men's competition this year were over 40)

If a runner is over 40 and they are fast......real fast.....then are they fast because they feed off the younger runners for tempo or are they fast because they are disciplined enough in there own mind and with their own watches to continue to kick it in and finish fast?

Since I am not one of those runners, I cannot say, but I can say that for those of us hitting in our age groups or finishing 6-10th place, that this strategy is good. Most of the female masters runners are often in the top and if we have them ahead of us then we KNOW how far we are away from finishing in the top.

Of course, there's always false security, knowing that you might not finish overall very well if the masters women start slow but that's not the norm.

Or could I have read the post wrong? Is it the younger folks who need US? LOL .....things that make you go Hmmmm.

Just my two cents. Happy Trails! :ohyeah:

If you click really fast, it looks like the trailer for an upcoming running movie. All we need is the epic music in the background.

Thanks again for the photos, Tom!
