GP points question

I am scheduled for knee surgery on Tuesday and can't run at all, but fast walking feels fine. I need to do the Watermelon 5K to try to get a few points at least as I am 2 non-championships short. I thought I would sign up as a walker since I can't run, and they do have a walkers' division for awards. But can I still get GP points if I am listed as a walker or do I have to sign up as a runner to score (even though I will walk the whole race).

You can still get points if you sign up as a walker but it is a good idea to let us know in advance (as you just did) since the results are usually separate from the runners and we need to know to look for them.
