Reflecting on 2010

Stealthy Cat did this last year and I thought it was a great idea. So, how far did you run in 2010 and what are your goals for 2011?

My Garmin has me at 1610.63 for the year. Looking for 2000 miles in 2011. (Had 1291.54 in 2009 and set a goal of 1500 miles for 2010. Met that goal so I look forward to meeting the next.)

1598.1 this year,,200 more than last year,,but I hurt my back last yearand didn't run for 10 weeks,I had been runnig about 1800 each year. I've been biking some durin the week this year, and will do that again next year, so my mileage won't get to 1800 again,,,,want to do over 1700 and NOT be injured!!.......oh...and lose about 10 pounds :doh!: :doh!: I did do 30 races and 5 marathons this year, which both were records... I say every year I am cutting down on my races,,I will do that this year,,only 20 or so,..and 10 GP races,,but I'm thinking 5 marathons again

How many miles did I run last year? I have no idea, being a luddite with no GPS attached to my foot (hip?)! But I did meet my running goals:

2010 goal: complete Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix Ironman season with my son (we did!) and to join Marathon Maniacs with 2 stars (I joined with 4 stars – 9 marathons in 9 states in 365 days).

2011 goals: Marathon Maniacs 5 stars by April 10 (3 marathons in 3 states in 10 days); 6 stars by December 3 (16 marathons in 16 states in 365 days); 7 stars by February 19, 2012 (20 marathons in 20 states in 365 days); and to reach 30 states in the 50-State Club (11 more states, including Alaska!).

Kim, I’m cutting back on the number of races I run, too. I ran 30 last year. This calendar year, I am only running 17 (all of them marathons).

1118 miles this year... 406 more than last year. I had an awesome year. Ran PR's in every distance except 4 mile and that is because I did not run the 4 mile race. Ran my first Ultra - the Full mOOn 50K. Ran 4 road marathons, 1 trail marathon, 3 half marathons and because Marathon Maniac #2496. I ran a total of 24 races.

In 2011 I would like to run 1200 or more miles. I want to do back to back marathons in one weekend and become a 4 star Maniac. I want to concentrate on speed and hit more PR's. I still have a lot of improving to do.

Running provides confidence, health, and weight control but the biggest thing it provides for me is friendships. I have gotten to know many of the runners from around the state and look forward to seeing them when ever I go to a race. Runners are one big family.

May you all have a great 2011!

As I enter the seniors arena, that is what I'm thinking or hoping
