You need four guys to score teams points at every other race, so it isn't asking any more to require 4 guys in order to score team points at the relay.

Women only need 3 to score team points at other races, but considering the females now routinely outnumber the men on the GP roster, I don't think it is asking too much that the women need four different runners to earn team points at the relay competition either.

Plus, I'm sure this would eventually lead to someone wanting to run the full Hogeye marathon and have their time count as their club's relay team. Or two guys would run the half and want me to add their times together, etc..... Definitely do NOT want all that hassle and it gets away from the spirit of the thing.

For the relay, it takes four to score! :pompom:
Brian, it looks like the Hogeye does allow the 1st leg of the relay to also compete in the full marathon if they pay an extra fee. I know that was a question Bresette was asking at the track run. Will that be okay for the Grand Prix also if a runner would like to run the full but help their team out?

Bresette (or whoever) can compete on the relay team and run the full marathon.

To do that, he would have to be the first leg of the relay and sign up for both events. RVR would still need 3 other guys to complete their relay team.

Bresette would run the first leg, hand off his relay chip to RVR's second runner and would also continue running the rest of the route himself.

Bresette's marathon time would have no bearing on the relay competition. Only the RVR relay time matters.

Anyone running the full has to be the first leg of the relay, therefore only one runner per team has this option.

Bottomline, you still have to have 4 different runners on each relay team.

Sorry if I wasn't clear...... :doh!: I wasn't referring to anything other than a team....it just some folks might have wanted to run the Whole Hog but yet still be part of a team** The Hogeye allows a person to do that if you pay up and run the 1st leg. That is good to know, now James won't have to make a choice. (maybe) haha

Kim we need to know what "leg" you are running.... Billy said he wants to run the same one.

This reminds me of a visit I had at the Oklahoma City Marathon expo with a guy who was in the annual Heroes edition of Runner's World as the youngest double amputee to finish an Ironman triathlon. I asked him if he was running the next day. He said yes, in the relay. I asked "which leg?"

Hunnicutt....Its simple.....its a RELAY RACE.....No other....its the only ONE....we'll make teams as we find people to run.....we could have 3 teams.....that means 12 people.....maybe more....you want to run....consider your self running....

The only exception is the lead off man.....if he wants to continue thats where he has to be placed.... and he pays 2 entry fees one on the relay and the other on the individual race.....
Silly Billy was so Nilly....Couldn't run the Nebo Hilly....lol

I'm still a bit confused. I am asking this question for my son who is trying to run all the races. What if he does not have enough members from his club to make up a team...will he be place with runners from a different club in order to have run a leg of the race? :pompom: T

That's a pretty stiff penalty for being a tough runner. But I don't disagree with it. I would enjoy running that half if I could.
