"The Beat Goes On" 5k

Post by EZdoesit »

Calling all Grand Prix runners.
The 3rd annual "Beat Goes On" 5k will be held February 26th this year and we would love if you all could attend. We are raising money for the Heart and Vascular services department at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Funds raised will go for a new piece of equipment that will help us visualize the inside of the coronary arteries and determine the need for a stent to be placed or not.

For more information you can go to www.SalineMemoral.org
To help out a fellow grand prix runner when you fill out your sign up sheet and mail it in, mail it to:
Attn: Eric Bain/Cath Lab
1 Medical Park Drive
Benton, AR 72015

Right now the only option is mailing the form in. They are working on getting online registration set up. Registration includes a long sleeve t-shirt and refreshments after the race.

We are having a friendly competition within our department and this is why the Attn on the mailing address is different than the registration form.

Thanks a lot and hope to see you all at the race!

There's a minor typo in the URL for the hospital's website. However, I did look for the printable forms but that page doesn't appear to be working.

One last post,
We are officially over 500 registered for the race Sat.
Hope to see a few RRCA runners out there vying for an award, and helping out Cardiac care in Saline County at the same time.
See you all out there

Just wanted to say thanks to anyone who showed up today for the 3rd annual Beat Goes On 5k. We had 598 pre registered runners with over 300 actually running. When I find out the final number I will let everyone know how much money was raised.
Thanks Again

Final update... (I promise)
Just letting everyone who participated or helped out that we raised a hair under $25,000 after expenses that is going towards a few things. First the money will be used to replenish the cardiac assistance fund, to help lower income patients pay for their medications in Saline County. Second of all we will be able to put a heafty down payment on a new piece of equipment that will benefit the patient as well as make the Cardiologist job easier to diagnose and fix complex cardiac lesions.

Around 600 people signed up for the race and 400 or so participated the day of the race.

Once again, Thanks again for everyone who made it a success. Planning will begin before too long to make next years event even bigger.
