VALENTINE'S DAY 5K FEB 11TH 2012

Post by sidewinder »

This race I am doing it a little different than most......Splitting it into 4 races.....starting at 9am and run every 30 mins.....Reason I'm doing it is to give the 4 major age groups their own identity....so Masters can have their own etc....
Here's the schedule:
9.00am MASTERS MALE 5K

9.30am OPEN WOMEN 5K and ALL WALKERS (Awards masters male 5k)

10.00am MASTERS WOMEN 5K (Awards Open women and walkers)

10.30am OPEN MEN 5K (Awards Masters Women)

11.00am KIDS RUN 1MILE. (Awards open male and kids run)

Any questions fire it up......
Silly Billy was so Nilly....Couldn't run the Nebo Hilly....lol

What if some fast master runner..(James Bressette for example)..would have came in 1st or 2nd in the Open division, or one of the fast 40 yr old women do the same?.. Should they have ran in the open? or do they just get 1st masters?..or are they SOL? :doh!:

They are fast. They'll win something!

Now if only there were an award for slowest runner....

Since when have you been concerned about Bressette ? Or, have you been doing some super secret training? Or, did Santa bring you lots of speed for Christmas? If you really want to run the open I will gladly bring my hour glass so that you can be timed.

So this means that no one over 40 is eligible for overall awards even if his/her finish times would have earned one? Right?

All kidding aside, I understand the reasoning for splitting up the field into four divisions but since awards are given at the conclusion of each division's heat, then no one over the age of 40 can win the race even if they run the fastest time (or even come in 2nd or 3rd).

Is this right?

Only in the race itself. For Grand Prix standings all will be as it has in the past. Sidewinder told me if anyone wants to challenge the young bucks in the open race, he would be more than happy to let them run that race. Again as for the grand prix, all points will be calculated as usual at the conclusion of all races.

Is this format so PT can change into his dress and run all 4 races?
