2018 Iron Runner Update

Post by Joe Milligan »

The first Arkansas RRCA race of 2018 is in the books and if you were one of the 129 runners who completed the One-Hour Track run, then you only have 19 more races to complete to become an Iron Runner.

Good luck and keep running?

With 11 RRCA Grand Prix Races completed, there are still 21 runners who have a shot at being an Iron Runner for 2018. To become a RRCA Grand Prix Iron Runner you have to successfully complete all scheduled races for that year. With the marathon for this year already completed, these 21 runners are well on their way.

The 21 runners include 15 females, Abigale White, Anna Marie Williams, Katherine Williams, Cara McKaskle, Amanda Williams, Stormie Wingo, Rhonda Burgos, Lisa Webb, Emily Hartman, Pam McGill, Stacy Berry, Judith Ostrowski, Mary Ann Hansen, Susan Whittenberg and Sandy Ahne.

The male runners include Wesley O’Connor, Rocky Stone, John Hunnicutt, Charles Coker Jr., Keith Knight and Manfred Galatowitsch.

With almost 6 weeks until the next Grand Prix race, now is the time to rest up some, relax and enjoy your accomplishments so far. Good luck to all of you and keep running!

Thanks for the update! Rocky is really wanting to make it this year. Whenever I run a race he asks, "Is this one for Grand Prix?!" because he doesn't want to miss Iron Runner! :-)

We are 75% of the way through the 2018 Grand Prix with 15 races completed and 5 races remaining. There are currently 13 female runners and 6 male runners still in contention for Iron Runner. Four of these runners (two female and two male) are youth runners who only have 3 races remaining. Good luck in these remaining races and keep running!

With nineteen races down and one to go, there are still 15 runners who must complete the last race of the year, the CASA Half Marathon, in order to complete their Iron seasons.

Four Youth Runners, Abigale White, Anna Marie Williams, Wesley O’Connor and Rocky Stone completed their Iron seasons at the SPA 10K.

The 15 runners include 11 females, Katherine Williams, Cara McKaskle, Amanda Williams, Stormie Wingo, Rhonda Burgos, Lisa Webb, Pam McGill, Stacy Berry, Judith Ostrowski, Mary Ann Hansen, Sandy Ahne, and 4 males, John Hunnicutt, Charles Coker Jr., Keith Knight and Manfred Galatowitsch.

One important note for this next race. When Pam McGill completes the CASA Half Marathon she will have completed 100 consecutive Grand Prix races! Five Iron Seasons in a row! A record for female runners in the Grand Prix.

One race to go. All you have to do is show up and finish. I know you can do it. I will see you on December 8th in Pine Bluff. Go Iron Runners!

Since the CASA race is postponed to 2019, will this affect the 2018 IRON Runners?

As of right now, the requirement to complete all 20 races is still in place. That means that Iron runners will need to finish the CASA Half Marathon on the scheduled date.

Should circumstances change, we will re-examine this requirement.

Remember, being an Iron Runner has always been part fortitude, part avoiding injury, and part luck. We've rescheduled races in the past due to weather; this is just the first time it's been the final race of the season.
