Well a lonely run with Dsmack and I making our way around mostly in the dark. We really just ran by ourselves as I couldn't keep the pace of the Wiley Old Fox from Yell county. Hopefully we'll have more show up tomorrow as we trudge out those ever so important base miles that will carry us to the promised land next year!

Time to celebrate!
Woo Hoo!
I have earned the GOLD bling for my first Arkansas USATF sanctioned Masters Cross Country 5k Championship!
It was a cold crisp morning with the temp below 32 degrees respectively. Frost covered the uncut grass which was dotted with wild onion growth that kept clipping my new pink spikes.
That little painted yellow line meandered its way across the 5k course leading us around Tucker, along the treeline and then jumping us over a big rain-filled creek and up a hillside that was only manageable with spikes because it was so wet.
Then up the 400 meter hill followed by "zig zagging" confusion through trees and circling in and out of the center of the hill. I got a little lost there and had to back track making the course a little longer for me.
We crossed the road at the bridge and then headed down the treeline until we met up with the regular one mile course. This continued for 2 long loops plus a half mile I believe. But I wasn't looking back....I was focused on the finish line! So when the results were tallied I had won GOLD!
NOW FOR TRAINING.....I will be at Bona Dea tomorrow morning at 7am with Kaitlin and Tom and maybe Danny (on a bike) for a variety of distances and speeds. Tom will do one long loop. Kaitlin and I will do 3 or 4 but at different paces. So come join us but dress warm unless you plan on running fast
