The 54th annual RRCA national convention is in Memphis on March 15-18. I'll be going to represent Arkansas. Anyone who has an interest in running and running clubs is welcome to attend but they especially encourage running club presidents to attend. Many of the topics discussed will deal with how to build and maintain running clubs, how to raise money, and other administrative tasks. It would be great if we could get a few more people from Arkansas to attend.

Also, you can participate in the National Half Marathon Championship Race, the Germantown Half Marathon. http://www.germantownhalfmarathon.com/i ... ge_id=1716
Well, you can participate in that race whether you go to the convention or not. But if you go to the convention, they'll bus you from the hotel to the race and back!

I intend on running the race, as well as coming to the Convention..although mainly to "hang out" with some old buddies. The National RRCA doesn't now about this yet,,so they haven't had me banned yet. They are also having a Silent Auction. The proceeds help the State Reps with their expenses. Please help and get with David about this if you have anything to contribute. There are a LOT of interesting topics and seminars at the Convention, and Memphis is a very close drive.
Somewhere , someone is training when you are not. When you race against them, they will beat you!

Al Becken wins National RRCA Award
2011 Browning Ross Spirit of the RRCA
• Al Becken – RRCA Board Member (1986-89), State Rep of the Year (1984)
The Browning Ross Spirit of the RRCA Award was created to honor the memory of one of the RRCA’s founding members, Browning Ross, who died in April 1998. The award honors a club member who is an unsung hero. These are the people who champion the RRCA as well as their local club or event “tirelessly and with enthusiasm,” but prefer to stay in the background, letting others bask in the spotlight, just as Browning did.
2010 - Ken Bendy, Former Southern Region Director and Florida (North) State Rep
2009 - Deborah “Debbie” Magilke, Yellowstone Rim Runners, Billings, MT
2008 - Dave Rouse, North Carolina Roadrunners, Raleigh, NC
2007 - Marlene Atwood, Peachtree City Running Club, Peachtree City, GA
2006 - Harold Tinsley, Huntsville Track Club, Huntsville, AL
2005 - Phil Stewart, Cherry Blossom, Bethesda, MD
2004 - Ken Peterson, Toledo Road Runners Club, Toledo, OH
2003 - Dominic Ortiz
2002 - Bob Holmes
2001 - Nina Kuscsik
2000 - Ted Corbitt
1999 - Larry Noel
