Directions to the Starting Line

From I-30:

Take exit 141A for AR-10 toward Cantrell Rd. Follow signs for Markham St and merge onto E 2nd St.
Turn right at S Cumberland St and drive one block
Turn left onto Markham St./President Clinton Ave and drive west for .75 miles
Turn right onto Chester and drive one block
Turn left onto La Harpe/Cantrell and drive west for ~ 2 miles
Turn right onto Cedar Hill Rd. At the Verizon Building, turn left on Riverfront Dr and head west for 2 miles to the start/finish location at Murray Park. Registration/Packet Pickup and the starting line are all located near pavilion #2.

Race History

Originally called the "River Run", this race was a staple of the Grand Prix Series from 1983 until 2002. The Rock Run ceased running after 2002 until being revived by the Arkansas RRCA and Easter Seals of Arkansas for the 2010 season!

Course Description

The race starts on Rebsamen Road near Murray Park Pavilions #1&2. The route heads west for ~1/2 mile, then makes a U-turn onto the Arkansas River Trail to head back west. The mile 1 marker is passed near Pavilions 1&2. Runners will continue west on the paved Arkansas River Trail, curving a bit at the Big Dam Bridge parking area. The course snakes under the BDB ramps before crossing the little Jimmerson Creek bridge. Continuing along the Arkansas River, the route reaches its turnaround point at the old traffic circle. Shortly after turning around, the course passes the mile 3 marker then returns along the same route on the Arkansas River Trail until reaching the finish line back in Murray Park.
